Have you ever heard a song and instantly known it was a hit?
Well, that's exactly how I felt about 'Love Me Not' by Ravyn Lenae.
Not that I'm a 'Simon Cowell' of sorts by any stretch of the imagination, but there's something in this song that gets you hooked right from the get go is all I'm saying.
I first came across 'Love Me Not' the way many new music obsessions begin these days...via a TikTok sound. Just a few seconds was all I needed to be intrigued to hear more. So, I hopped over to YouTube to hear the full thing and bam, just like that, a fan out of me was made.
Now, I'm not very good at describing songs, (which probably isn't the best thing to say as the writer of a music blog haha) but this track has a soulful, 60s feel with an alt/R&B sound.
See the official music video below:
At its core, it asks the question we’ve all wanted to ask a crush at some point... “Do you love me, or love me not?” I remember being younger, plucking petals from flowers, hoping the last one would give me the answer I wanted. Lenae’s version of that question is far more nuanced, but the emotion hits just as hard.
What makes 'Love Me Not' so special is how universal it feels. We’ve all lived in that liminal space of maybe-love, afraid to ask but needing to know. It's that vulnerability and desire that Lenae captures with such elegance and honesty.

I can’t wait to see what this American star in-the-making does next, but for now, I’m proud to say Ravyn Lenae is this week’s favourite find!
