Introducing: The BoykinZ!

I'm itching to tell you all about this country-pop / hip-hop sister quartet so take a seat, grab a cuppa and keep reading haha.

So, I was on YouTube the other day and saw a thumbnail of four black, beautiful women in a "garageband" set up. The title: The BoyKinZ - Step Right Up.

In that moment, I just HAD to click play as this was an image I'd NEVER seen in 32 years on this planet...and I was NOT disappointed!

Below is the video in question. Have a watch / listen and see you back here in a few mins.

See what I mean!? How cool do they look rockin' out? They're having so much fun and have great chemistry together.

I initially thought they were close friends, but to find out they're sisters makes this group feel even more awesome and is a nice USP.

I loved the premise of the music video and especially the playful and relatable ending of the 'protective dad' getting rid of all the 'suitors'. His facial expressions were laugh out loud hilarious.

Some might say Beyoncé has paved the way for more women of colour to make country music. In my opinion, it's more that her Grammy-award-winning album made it more visible and accepted, since The BoykinZ have been uploading videos to YouTube for well over a decade before 'Cowboy Carter' came out.

It's the representation for me. They're not lost, just have been undiscovered.

Until now of course!

My love for favourite finds grows more and more each week - I'm so excited to be early to this girl group - so hop on board from now before they really, really blow!

Oh and follow them here: @TheBoykinZ
